Why this matters

The multiplier is the point — a room he trains directly is one room; a trainer he certifies can fill hundreds more, long after he's left.

That's the thread running through three different kinds of programme, each built for a different stage and sector of his career: Training of Trainers cohorts run for international development partners, School of Leadership's own youth-trainer certification, and Torque's current corporate Train-the-Trainer offering.

As a trainer, I keep it simple. Simple is different for different audiences. But we have had enough of jargon and plenty of powerpoints.

Train the Young Trainer (TTYT)

“School of Leadership's own youth-trainer certification.”

TTYT is School of Leadership's certification for young people stepping into facilitation for the first time. Umair earned his own TTYT certificate in 2005, near the start of his career — the same programme he later mobilised resources for as a director at SoL.

Torque's Certified Train-the-Trainer is a current, active offering for corporate clients — a 3-day, in-person programme that builds facilitation and instructional-design skills.

For six years Umair ran Trainers Resource Group (TRG), a community platform for Pakistan's HR and training professionals — the same trainer community he still volunteers for today, alongside The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Karachi.
