From Zero · A social enterprise

Where everything feeds itself · Humans. Animals. Plants.

A farm that wastes nothing.

From Zero is Umair Jaliawala's social enterprise — an integrated, zero-waste farm where livestock, crops and orchards feed one another in a single closed loop. Abundance, grown from the ground up.

From Zero — Where everything feeds itself. Humans. Animals. Plants.

The idea

Zero waste isn't a slogan — it's the whole design.

Most farms take from the land and throw the rest away. From Zero is built the other way around: every output becomes another system's input, so almost nothing leaves as waste.

It's regenerative farming run as a social enterprise — a working model of how food, soil and livelihoods can grow together, designed to be learned from and rebuilt anywhere.

Integrated by design

Livestock, compost, soil, crops and water work as one connected system — not separate plots.

Zero waste

Manure feeds the soil, scraps feed the animals, trimmings feed the compost. The loop closes.

From zero

Started with almost nothing and grown, season by season, into a full working farm.

Built to be copied

A blueprint any community can adapt — the point is to spread the model, not to stay small.

The journey

From one small plot to a working farm.

01 · The pilot

An incubator the size of an idea

Bari Imam · near Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad

From Zero began as a mini farm and incubator on a small plot — proof that an integrated, zero-waste loop could actually work on real land.

02 · The farm

A full-scale integrated farm

Chak Shahzad, Islamabad

Today it's a full working farm — livestock, vegetables, fruit orchards and plant nurseries, all connected in one regenerative cycle.

The system

One closed loop

Follow anything on the farm and it comes back around. This is what "zero waste" looks like in practice.

  1. 1

    Livestock

    Cattle, goats & poultry

  2. 2

    Manure & compost

    Waste becomes fertiliser

  3. 3

    Living soil

    Rebuilt every season

  4. 4

    Vegetables

    Grown in that soil

  5. 5

    Fruit orchards

    Trees anchor the land

  6. 6

    Harvest & kitchen

    Scraps return to feed

  7. …back to the start

On the farm

What grows at From Zero

Livestock

Cattle, goats and poultry, raised as part of the cycle — the engine of the compost that feeds everything else.

Vegetables

Seasonal, soil-grown produce from beds fed by the farm's own compost.

Fruit orchards

Trees that stabilise the soil, shade the land and yield year after year.

Plants & nurseries

Green cover and saplings raised on-site to keep the farm — and others — growing.
